Fatty acid biosynthesis in the testis of the human fetus during the first trimester.

چکیده
Lipid biosynthesis in the adult testis in several species has been reported (Davis, Bridges & Coniglio, 1966; Bridges & Coniglio, 1970; Carpenter, 1971; Ayala, Gaspar, Brenner, Peluffo & Kunau, 1973). Similar studies in the fetal testis are not available. The purpose of this study was to investigate the ability of the testis of the human fetus during the first trimester to synthesize fatty acids from labelled substrates. The compounds purchased from the Applied Science Laboratory, State College, Pennsylvania, were 99% pure [1-14C]linoleic acid (all cis; sp. act., 52\m=.\5mCi/mmol) and 99% pure [1-14C]arachidonic acid (all cis; sp. act., 52\m=.\5mCi/mmol); [1,2-14C]sodium acetate (sp. act54.m, Ci/mmol) was received from New England Nuclear Corp., Boston, Massachusetts. Undamaged abortuses were obtained from the abortion clinic at Freedmen's Hospital, Howard University, and the ages of the fetuses were determined from cro\p=m-\n-rump measurement. Abortions were performed by injection of hypertonic saline solution (20%) into the amniotic fluid, usually between 12 and 16 weeks of gestation, and generally occurred within 10 to 12 hr after injection. The testes were carefully removed, cleaned and weighed, and a portion of the tissue was used for histological examination in initial studies to confirm the characteristics of a normal human fetal testis. Histological examination of the fetal testes at 12 to 16 weeks of gestation showed well-developed interstitial cells and sex cords. Every effort was made to initiate incubation studies within a few hours after abortion ; on occasion, however, the testes were removed, cleaned, weighed and stored at

Female and male reproductive tracts are of interest sites to study of immune system because they encounter specific infections such as those are sexually transmitted. Furthermore, female reproductive tract is in close contact with allogenic sperms and transmitted microorganisms during intercourse and semi allogenic fetus during pregnancy. In mammals, there are two types of immune responses, the...
متن کاملP-19: The Effect of Mice Maternal Diet Supplemented with Omega-3 Fatty Acids on The Testicular Structure of Offspring: Stereological Study
Background Despite the bulk of studies on fatty acid supplementation in maternal diet and confirmed the positive effects on brain and vision, these effects on offspring reproductive organs have not been tested. The aim of the present study was to stereological evaluate the effect of feeding Fish Oil (FO) for mothers on the testis structure of offspring. MaterialsAndMethods Sixty mature female N...

Background and Objectives: Chemical synthesis and extraction of flavorings from natural sources include disadvantages. However, biotechnology is a preferred method for biosynthesis of flavorings. The objective of this study was to synthesize natural esters with fruity flavors in whey using lipase of Palatase in combination with ethanol fermentation. Materials and Methods: Lactobacillus ferment...

The biosynthetic pathways of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids consist of many steps controlled by various enzymes. One of the methods for improving oil quality is to change the fatty acid profile through genetic manipulation which requires isolation and characterization of the genes and other cis-acting elements, such as the promoter, involved in fatty acid biosynthesis. b-ketoacyl-CoA syn...
